Packed Column Injector

The WBI is very similar to the Split Injector (SPL) but it has no split outlet. Therefore, when using capillary columns, any splitless liner can be used. However, it is mostly used in combination with glass and stainless-steel (S.S.) packed columns, where a special liner with an internal tapered shape is needed.

SINJ injectors do not have a split outlet (unlike SPL-injectors) nor septum purge flows (unlike SPL- and WBI-injectors). Consequently, everything that is injected enters the column. It is therefore typically used for packed columns and valve systems.

When using a glass column, one should add a glass liner to prevent the column from accumulating non-volatile components. In some cases, it is already integrated in the column. When using a stainless column, it is always necessary to connect a glass liner to the column at the side of the injection unit.

It enables the use of packed injectors in combination with wide bore (0.53 mm ID) capillary columns. Special liners with an internal tapered shape are needed, in order to minimize peak tailing.
