PTV Programmed Temperature Vaporization

When using a PTV injector, the sample is first injected into a cold injector which then starts heating up according to the programmed ramp. Typically, the solvent is vaporized first and vented out, and afterwards the analytes of interest are vaporized and introduced into the column. This is especially useful for the analysis of thermolabile analytes. To help with the homogeneous vaporization and prevent the liquid solvent form going directly into the column, it is recommended to use liners with wool.

The maximum temperatures depend on the deactivation:
