SPL Injector Split / Splitless
Split
Split injections are ideal for samples with high concentrations, high matrix loads, or when the limits of detection do not need to be low. The reason for that is that during injection, the split vent is open and only a small part of the total flow -and therefore of the sample and matrix- is transferred into the column, avoiding column overload, and prolonging its lifetime. These liners can also be used for other applications, such as the analysis of polymers in combination with a pyrolyzer.

All liners presented here are compatible with all Shimadzu SPL-models. We recommend using the corresponding liner for each injector, as the position of the wool - or the indentations where the wool would be - has been specifically designed for each injector.

Each P/N includes 5 deactivated liners. Suitable for all injector models. The maximum temperatures depend on the deactivation:
- Standard deactivation: 400 °C
- Base deactivation: 350 °C
- Siltek deactivation: 380 °C
Splitless
Splitless injections are ideal for samples with low concentrations, or when the limits of detection need to be low (e.g., trace analysis). The reason for that is that at the beginning of the injection, the split vent is closed, and all the flow is directed into the column. After a set amount of time, the vent is opened, and any remaining solvent is flushed out.

Split / Splitless
Sometimes an instrument is used for split and splitless applications, and changing the liners accordingly is not an option. In those cases, split/splitless liners are recommended.
